DISTRIBUTION
Distributed along the North-east Atlantic from the Barents Sea southwards to North-west Africa. Also present in the Mediterranean Sea.
ECOLOGY
Oceanic and benthopelagic species present at depths ranging from 150 to 3000 m. Its diet consists mainly of small crustaceans, fish and cephalopods.
FISHERIES
Mainly fished using pelagic and bottom trawls, but also lines, seines and fixed nets.
