DISTRIBUTION
Present along the Eastern Atlantic from the Norwegian Sea to West Africa. Also found in Mediterranean Sea mainly in the western area.
ECOLOGY
Epipelagic, most often oceanic but seasonally can be found close to the shore. It is a highly migratory species. The diet consists of fish, crustaceans and cephalopods.
FISHERIES
Caught mainly using purse seines, longlines, trolling lines and to a lesser extent trap nets.
DID YOU KNOW
Tagging studies have shown this fast-swimming species can travel up to70 km per hour and is able to cross the Atlantic Ocean within 50 days.
