DISTRIBUTION

Present in the North-east Atlantic from the Barents Sea down to the Bay of Biscay, including the waters of Iceland and Greenland, and the Baltic Sea.

ECOLOGY

Benthopelagic species found from the coastline right down to 600 m below the surface. Found in a wide range of habitats. Its diet consists on invertebrates and fish.

FISHERIES

Cod is mainly caught by demersal trawls but also using gill nets, longlines and purse seines.
