DISTRIBUTION MAP

DISTRIBUTION

Present in the North-east Atlantic from the Bay of Biscay down to West Africa. Also distributed in the Mediterranean Sea.

ECOLOGY

Territorial and solitary species that inhabits sandy and rocky substrates from shallow waters to depths of 400 m. Their diet consists mainly of crabs, octopus and fish.

FISHERIES

Captured preferably in fisheries using longlines and trammel nets.
