DISTRIBUTION

Found throughout the borders of the North-east Atlantic, from the west of Scotland to North-west Africa. Also found in the Mediterranean Sea.

ECOLOGY

Benthic species found burrowed in sandy bottoms of coastal areas down to 30 m, but occasionally as far as 180 m. It is a suspension feeder species.

FISHERIES

Fished predominantly using bottom gears such as dredges.
