DISTRIBUTION

Found in the North-east Atlantic from the north-west coast of Norway and south to North-west Africa. Also present in the Black and Mediterranean Seas.

ECOLOGY

Found on rocky substrata living in caves and excavated tunnels from the lower shore down to a depth of 60 m. Its diet consists of invertebrates, algae, fish and zooplankton.

FISHERIES

Landings mainly originate from trammel net and pot fisheries.
