DISTRIBUTION

Distributed in the North-east Atlantic, from Iceland and the Norwegian Sea down to North-west Africa. Also present in the Mediterranean Sea.

ECOLOGY

Meso-demersal species that inhabits soft bottoms with a depth range of 100 to 700 m. They feed on small bottom fish as well as squids and crustaceans.

FISHERIES

Caught most commonly using otter and beam trawls by mixed bottom-trawl fisheries.
