DISTRIBUTION

Distributed along the North-east Atlantic from the Greenland and Norwegian Seas and southwards to the North Sea and English Channel.

ECOLOGY

Species present in depths from 20 to 1300 m forming schools. It inhabits on or near bottoms of clay and mud with organic content. It feeds on detritus and plankton.

FISHERIES

Mainly caught with single and twin deep water bottom trawls such as otter trawls.
