DISTRIBUTION

Present in the North-east Atlantic from the North Sea and west of the British Islands to West Africa. Also present in the Mediterranean Sea

ECOLOGY

Neritic benthic species usually found on rocky bottoms, coral reefs and seagrass beds from 0 to 200 m deep. It feeds mainly on molluscs and crustaceans.

FISHERIES

Mainly captured in fisheries using hooks, lines, pots and otter trawls.
