DISTRIBUTION
Found in the North-east Atlantic from the North Sea and west of the British Isles to West Africa, including off-lying islands. Also found in the Mediterranean Sea.
ECOLOGY
Benthopelagic species present in rocky, gravel, sandy and muddy bottoms from inshore waters of 20 m down to depths of 300 m. It mainly feeds on invertebrates and fish.
FISHERIES
Caught mainly with bottom trawls, beach seines, trammel nets and gill nets.
