DISTRIBUTION
Present in the coastal areas of the North-east Atlantic, from Norway to the Iberian Peninsula in the south. Also found in the Mediterranean Sea.
ECOLOGY
Species found vertically burrowed on muddy and fine sandy bottoms from extreme low waters up to 60 m deep. They are suspension filter feeding species.
FISHERIES
Caught with dredges and to a lesser extent by hand by divers.

Razor clams can bury themselves vertically in a rapid manner adding water to the soil just below the surface, making the bottom softer and easier to penetrate.
