DISTRIBUTION

Present in the North-east Atlantic from the Bay of Biscay to West Africa, including off-lying islands. Also present in the Mediterranean Sea.

ECOLOGY

Benthopelagic species found in depths between 0-250 m. It inhabits rocky and sandy bottoms and seagrass beds. Its diet consists of crustaceans, fish, and molluscs.

FISHERIES

Caught with beach seines, trawl nets, bottom longlines and handlines.
