DISTRIBUTION

Distributed in the North-east Atlantic in the Greenland and the Norwegian Seas. Also present in the waters south of Iceland and Greenland.

ECOLOGY

Benthic and epipelagic species present in muddy or rocky bottoms ranging from 5-1000 m in depth. They feed on small crustaceans, cephalopods, and small fishes.

FISHERIES

Caught mainly in pelagic and demersal trawl fisheries, but also in gillnet and longline fisheries.
