DISTRIBUTION
Found in the North-east Atlantic from the Barents Sea and Iceland and southwards to North-west Africa. Also in the North Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.
ECOLOGY
Species commonly found in the intertidal zone, sandy bays and estuaries. Has been discovered at depths of 100 m. Its diet consists of zooplankton and diatoms.
FISHERIES
Mainly caught by trawlers using small-meshed demersal fishing gears.
