DISTRIBUTION

Present in the North-east Atlantic from the North Sea to North-west Africa, including off-lying islands. Also present in the Mediterranean Sea.

ECOLOGY

Found from the shore to down to 200 m depth. It inhabits caves and crevices found in coralligenous and rocky bottoms. They feed on molluscs, crustaceans and echinoderms.

FISHERIES

Mainly captured in fisheries using trammel nets and traps.
