DISTRIBUTION

Distributed in the Northeast Atlantic ranging from South Norwegian Sea to West Africa. Also present in the Mediterranean Sea.

ECOLOGY

Oceanic species found in mid-water above the thermocline, at depths from 200 to 600 m. Opportunistic feeder, its varied diet includes fish, crustaceans and squids.

FISHERIES

Caught mainly fisheries using longline, drift gillnets, harpoon and set nets.
