DISTRIBUTION
Found in the North-east Atlantic ranging from the Bay of Biscay to West Africa, including off-lying islands. Also present in the Mediterranean Sea.
ECOLOGY
Demersal species that inhabits rocky, sandy and seagrass bottoms in depths between 0-30m, but has been found down to 160 m. It feeds on crustaceans, worms and molluscs.
FISHERIES
Most of the landings are by trammel nets, gill nets and hand lines.
