DISTRIBUTION

Present in the North-east Atlantic ranging from the Norwegian Sea and Iceland to the Iberian Peninsula. Also present in the Mediterranean and Black Seas.

ECOLOGY

Benthopelagic species present at depths of 10-200 m. It inhabits rocky, muddy and sandy bottoms. Its diet consists of fish, crustaceans, molluscs and polychaetes.

FISHERIES

Most of the landings are by bottom trawlers, lines, and seine nets.
